Brute in the press

Don’t you love those days when something serendipitous happens and a great memory from the past comes up?

Yesterday, Josh To came across an interview with Arvi Raquel-Santos & Kristen Bouvier (Social Impact co-chairs of the SF chapter of AIGA) that made us all a bit giddy. When asked to list some past Cause/Effect design award winners that stood out to them, they *both *mentioned BRUTE LABS projects! Our geeky excitement was difficult to contain, because that’s high praise from two people (and an organization) we deeply respect.

Those words took me back to a young Brute circa 2009 when a long time aspiration was realized with two AIGA Cause/Effect awards. Our first iteration of ProjectOPEN in Santa Monica (coming soon to San Francisco!) beat out amazing competition from professional firms and design groups at some of the biggest brands in the world to win first place in community development. The WellDone project, which has since gone on to become it’s own non-profit bringing clean drinking water to over 50 communities across the world, took second place in the Health & Welfare category.

My how things change in two short years. Margaret Mead really did have it right when she said to “never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. Indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”
